Parts of seed

A seed has 3 parts :-
  1. Seed coat
  2. Endosperm
  3. Embryo

1. Seed coat

Seed coat protects the internal parts of seed. The seed coat has 2 layers, testa (thick outer layer) and
tegmen (thin inner layer).

Micropyle - An opening in the integument of the ovule is known as micropyle.

2. Endosperm

It contain nutrients stored in it. Endosperm provides nutrients to the seed during germination. It is located below the seed coat.

3. Embryo

The embryo is most important part of a seed. It is diploid developed from the fertilized egg.
