A hormones is a chemicals that is made by specialist cells which circulate in the blood stream and send a message or signals to different parts of the body.

The name hormone comes from the Greek word which mean "setting in motion".
Their role is to provide an internal communication system between cells located in distant parts of body.
Hormones are made in endocrine glands.

Anterior pituitary
  • Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH)
  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • Luteinising hormone (LH)
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
  • Prolactin (PRL)
  • Growth hormone (GH)

  • Anti-diuretic hormone  (ADH)
